Tom Cox


Tom Cox is a Principal and Executive Vice President, in the Leadership Pipeline Institute, US, and oversees the operational aspects of LPI US.


Tom has over 28 years of broad, proven leadership experience spanning multiple industries and disciplines, highlighted by key leadership roles at General Electric, Marriott International and small business ventures. The expanse of industries is underscored by his versatility and notable success in a variety of functional areas including Marketing, Sales, General Operations and Finance & Accounting.


Tom’s career has been built on entering uncharted waters and leading teams through challenges and change. A developer of people and businesses, his major accomplishments include:

  • Business start-ups for GE and Marriott
  • At Marriott and GE led special projects resulting in millions in revenue increases and cost reductions, respectively
  • Integration and growth of a Marriott acquisition from $83M to just under $100M in revenue in two years
  • Nomination by over 30 colleagues for the prestigious JW Marriott Award for Excellence in Leadership
  • Inspirational speaker and key content contributor to the Marriott “CoachManShip” leader development program

After earning his Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Kentucky, Tom joined GE Capital in the renowned GE Financial Management Program. After graduating from the program, he held various leadership positions in GE Capital and GE Appliances demonstrating his influence, adaptability and impact in both financial services and manufacturing. Seeking further growth and development, Tom then charted a new course moving from B2B to B2C as a top contributor in a variety of roles in Marriott Vacations Worldwide. Tom continued to demonstrate his ability to learn and impact others as a leader with positions ranging from corporate director roles in Finance & Accounting to successful senior leadership roles in Sales & Marketing in key markets.


Following Marriott and prior to joining the Oliver Group and LPI US, he joined CSS Distribution, a national packaging distribution firm, as COO. There he stabilized the operation in 10 short months with a number of initiatives around vendor performance, systems integration, inventory management programs and team development.
